Talking to Parents and Families About Suicide Prevention

Posted 10 months ago  in Parent and Family NewsHealth, Wellness and Safety.

Parent and Family Programs collaborates with on-campus partners to bring you the resources and information you need to support your student. This post features a video created by Andrew Stochel, a psychologist at the Georgia Tech Center for Mental Health Care and Resources and coordinator of the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) suicide prevention training program.

Dr. Stochel has shared this suicide prevention video as a resource for those who have been unable to take part in the QPR training sessions that he offers to parents and families, or as a supplement for those who have. While this isn't a substitute for the QPR training, it does offer valuable information. Keep an eye on emails from the Hive with registration information about upcoming QPR training opportunities, usually held once during the day and once in the evening every semester.
