The Countdown to Move-in!

Posted 10 months ago  in Housing and Residence Life.

As we reach the final stretch before move-in, Housing and Residence Life would like to share some important information with our families.

Move-In: Dates

  • Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11: First-Year Students, New Transfer Students and New Graduates
  • Monday, August 12 - Sunday, August 18: Returning students

    Move-in Appointments
Your student can select their move-in appointment after they have completed the room selection process. They should visit My Housing to select their move-in appointment.

    Items to Bring & Roommates
Deciding what to bring and what not to bring can be tricky! For the full list of what to bring and prohibited items, review our Items to Bring list. We encourage your student to email/text their roommate(s) to get to know each other, coordinate shared furniture before purchasing and/or packing expensive items, and plan an exciting experience together!

    Info Sessions
Housing and Residence Life will host a pre-move-in information session:

    BuzzCard Photo
Please encourage your student to submit their BuzzCard photo immediately. All exterior doors to Georgia Tech’s residence halls are electronic access only - BuzzCard is the only way to access the building. In addition, while they may have a physical key to their bedroom when they move-in, it won’t be forever! We are currently in the process of converting all locks to electronic locks, and BuzzCard will become their only key. To receive their BuzzCard at move-in, students must submit their BuzzCard photo online by July 17. If they submit their photo by this date following these guidelines, their BuzzCard will be in their check-in envelope on move-in day.  If they do not submit a photo by the deadline, instructions on how to receive their BuzzCard will be provided on move-in day.

We encourage you to check out the Move-In page to help you better understand the move-in process. For additional information about move-in, email movein@housing.gatech.edu or contact the Housing Help Desk.
