Hello Yellow Jacket Families!
We hope you enjoy this video in our Welcome Wreck: Georgia Tech 101 Summer Series, featuring: Housing and Residence Life with Jenny Cotton, Executive Director.
In this video, Jenny helps us understand how best to prepare for the move-in experience, tips and tricks for the day, and the importance of the roommate contract.
Move-In Dates and Process:
Dates: Incoming first-year students will move in on August 10-11, 2024.
Sign-Up: Students need to sign up for a move-in time slot. Time-tickets for selecting move-in appointments will be available starting July 9 via My Housing.
Check-In: There will be a drive-thru check-in. Follow the provided directions and do not go directly to your residence hall.
RA Floor Meetings: After moving in, students will meet with their Resident Assistant (RA) for a floor meeting to discuss important details, including how to submit a work order and roommate agreements. Discussion for the roommate agreements revolve around temperature of the room, cleanliness, what items can be shared vs. what is off limits, guest policy, quiet hours, etc.
Week of Welcome:
Students arrive a week before classes for Week of Welcome. A new wellness initiative, "Wellness Era," will be launched during this week, featuring various giveaways, highlighting campus resources and helping your student create a solid foundation to be successful during their time here at Georgia Tech.
Items to Bring/Prohibited Items: Refer to this list for guidance on what to bring and what to leave at home.
Yellow Jacket Family Hive: Engage with the Yellow Jacket Family Hive for updates and information.
Social Media: Follow @gatechhousing on social media for the latest happenings within the halls.
Enjoy listening and re-listening as much as you like, hopefully with your student as well.

Is it possible to get a copy of the Roommate Agreement so the students can begin thinking about their responses

Random question, my son is going to be in a suite style/ Quad dorm in Howell. Should we put in a maintenance request prior to move in so that his bed can be lofted?
